Sunday at the flea market

Sunday at "El Rastro", Madrid's most famous flea market. Over 40 degrees in the shade. The summer of Madrid is being torture for my poor bare feet. Cheap clothes and cold beer. If I can stand the heat of the ground of the city, I have no problem putting out cigarettes on my soles.

hi cecilia, i was just wondering, in almost all of your pictures in just about every one of your diary entries, i noticed the soles of your feet are black. when you scrub them in the shower each day does most of the black come off or are your feet permanently stained?

Thank you for your feedback. My soles are always black because I have 16 months barefoot and not just a shower to leave them white. Both time on the asphalt makes the skin pigment and becomes dark. It is necessary to rub hard to discolor black.
I hope I have answered your question.
Kisses.

Hola Cecilia,

Well, after 16 months barefoot my soles are tough and strong and I can turn off cigarettes without problems. Glad to know that you can too. Kisses from Madrid.

Yes, hot asphalt is very hard. This summer in Madrid we had over 40 degrees and I've had some blisters on my soles. I prefer the winter.

Is hot asphalt that hard even for your well inured, leathery soles Cecilia? As you walk on the scorching pavement, don't you miss wearing shoes?
